6 months old!!!

Mama updated my montage today with my new pictures, but since I am 6 months old baba needs to take new ones.

I now weigh exactly 19 lbs and I am 28.25" long. Mama says I am a good eater :p

My amazing tricks....

Tuesday I picked up the stick and played a couple of notes on my xylophone by myself. I do this daily when I am allowed.

Yesterday I got the lid unscrewed from my sippy cup and made a little mess on mama.

Yesterday I started using my body language when I want a different parent. Mama was carrying me and I wanted baba, so I turned my body towards baba and put out both arms hoping he would get the point. He did and he was impressed that I wanted him to carry me.

My first tooth

I cut my first tooth today. Yesterday baba saw a bit of white on my gums and today I have something sharp poking out. Mama and baba try to keep me busy so I don't think about the pain. I try to keep myself busy by chewing on everything I possibly can. Mama says after my teeth come in I will feel better, but I am not so sure.

First Rice

Yesterday mama feed me rice cereal. It was okay, but kind of weird tasting. Mama says I have to eat a little bit everyday for a week then I get to try a little oatmeal. I hope oatmeal tastes better than rice.

To grammy's house we go

Mama, baba and I took a trip to Grammy's for Christmas (on Saturday). Uncle Rob got a new ipod and some music, mama got some money, and baba got a gift card for a motorcycle shop.
I got a xylophone from 1969 that was in its original box and a musical doggie. I think baba likes the xylophone more than I do.

I also got to see a tree with lots of lights and Grammy got me my very first ornament.

Yesterday mommy and I got to spend time with our friends. We range in age from 1 month to 8 months. I was a good girl for mama and had fun with my friends.

5 months

I am 5 months old today!!!

I can roll both ways, even in a very tight spot if it means I get the toy I want...but without trying to reach a toy it doesn't interest me.

I can sit up but I have bad posture when my back is not supported. I can't crawl yet, and my mom says I only get milk from her (no solids) until next year. :)

I love my mama and baba and I try to tell them, and most of the time they understand. I love to smile, laugh, and tell my own jokes (mama and baba don't always get them, but they laugh anyway.)

I wear 6-12 month clothes (6-9 months clothes are almost too small). I am 27 inches and about 17lbs 8 oz.

My new booster seat

Mama and I went out today. She bought me a new booster seat with a toy that fits in the tray. She is not feeding me solid food yet but wants to have another place to put me to keep me busy since my bouncer is long gone.




From my doctor's appointment I found out I am 27 inches and they say 17 lbs and 2 oz, but mama and I don't think so because I was 17 lbs 10 days ago and their scale is always off. It hasn't been calibrated since July 2005.

Since I am such a big girl I have no problem playing in my excersaucer. Aunt Sherifa thinks I am teething too. (She has 3 kids you know.)

They shot me...again.

So now that I know how to turn on and off my mobile with my feet and mommy got my passport, I am a big girl.

At the Dr's office everyone said how big, how good, and how much head control I have(they thought I was 5-6months.) They gave me 4 shots today. I didn't even flinch with the first two, the third one made me upset and the fourth one made me cry. Mama let me watch "Alam Simsim" in bed because I was such a brave girl.

Baba also told us that Meme and Deda are coming back out in January, inshallah.

Well I am off to rest now.

I don't like rain

Last night I got up three time looking for mama. The rain makes a lot of noise outside. It sounds like there is something plastic it hits outside our window. The night before I also woke up once about 2 hours after I went to sleep. Stupid rain!

Today mama and I are a little more tired than usual.

I can now hold myself sitting up on any firm surface for minutes at a time. The world is starting to look a little different to me.

Learning new tricks

Yesterday I started sitting up in my stroller by myself. I like to sit up so I can get a better view of things. I also now push my tongue against my bottom lip to make it puff out.

Mama has been keeping me busy

Mama has been taking me out for a walk every other day for the last week. I kind of enjoy it. It gives me time to get some fresh air and take a nice long nap without interruptions.

Today I am not feeling so great. I had a little bit of spit up 3 times today.

Mama also scheduled my shots for next Thursday so don't expect to see much of me next week.

Mama is getting so silly

Today mama blew a raspberry on my tummy and it made me laugh. Mama also put away all my 3-6 month clothes...good thing she keeps buying me new ones.

I am also learning how to press buttons on my toys so that they make music and tell me things. My toys are so cool!

Baba is away in Seattle working again, but he will be home tonight. I was a good girl yesterday for mama but today I am just tired and I don't feel like sleeping until I see my baba and tell him about my day.

Hear ye, hear ye

I copy the sounds I hear so watch out. I know "poo po", "maaa ma", " bay be", and one other one mama told me never to repeat. Something about baba saying bad words.....




My new bangs are cool! No more hair in my face.

I love my feet!

I slept most of today (until 4:30pm.) I told you I was tired. When I wasn't sleeping today I was playing with my feet.

Last night mama and baba cut my bangs. They were bugging me all the time. I feel much better now.

Tae Kwan Do

While visiting my cousins this weekend baba and I went outside. Ali started trying to kick baba and I and we jumped out of the way. It was so funny. I was laughing so loud the neighbors could hear me. I had a lot of fun playing with Ali and baba. Mama and Hana watched and they were laughing too.

Baba also bought me a big convertible car seat yesterday too. My infant car seat was starting to get too small and the Britex carseat that Uncle Derek and Auntie Ann gave me was not working in baba's car.

I am exhausted. Good night. :)

My gums hurt

Lately my gums have been a bothering me. I am looking for stuff to chew on because it makes me feel a little better. I hope my gums feel better soon. I am getting a little fussy.

Baba is funny

This weekend I went to see my cousins. While there baba bounced me on his knee and made funny sounds. I was laughing so hard. Uncle Amr took out his camcorder and caught it on tape for me.

I have been sleeping pretty well. I always sleep at least 7 hours before I wake up hungry. I feel very tired lately. Mama and baba think I might be growing again.

I have been busy

Monday my Uncle Matt came over and played with me. He is a fun guy and he loves me a lot. He lives in Germany right now but I hope he moves closer to me soon.

Then Tuesday I meet all my friends at the park. I got to hang out with my friend Mateo under a big tree. I pulled on his shirt and hat and he moved his hands and legs a lot. My other friends are really cool too but they are younger than Mateo and I, so they can't do much yet.

Zzzzz.....Zzzzzz...

I had a long weekend. First mama and baba dragged me around to do their errands then auntie dragged us all around to do her errands. I did have a lot of fun though. I got to spend time with my cousins Hana and Kareem. I really love my cousins. They make me laugh all the time and they love me so much they don't mind my stinky diapers.

Last night I was so tired I tried to go to sleep at 8pm but we were still at my cousins’ house so then I went to sleep at 9pm, but then I was awakened when we got home. Then I FINALLY got to sleep at 11pm and no one woke me up till 8:30 this morning. I am still tired though so I am going back to sleep and maybe I'll wake up at 10.

Baba was also making fun of me because when he snores (and wakes himself up) I snore too. I can't help it. I am a baby, I just copy what the grown ups do.

I am tired!

Baba had to travel to Seattle so I have been stuck with mama. This is fine except......mama DOES NOT snore. How is a girl suppose to sleep with out a steady noise????

Firsts

My first big car ride was to Auntie Sherifa's to meet Uncle Amr and spend the day with baba's family.


My first party (baby shower) August 26th. (I didn't get to eat the food.)

The first time I giggled out loud was with baba, Ali, and Hana on Labor Day.



My first night sleeping in my crib was about 3 weeks ago. (I need my own space you know.)


My first trip was last weekend to Monterey and Carmel for mama's and baba's 2nd aniversary.

The first time I really slept through the night (9:30-6:30) was this Monday.

My name is Zeinab. I was born June 29th 2006 at 4:05 am. I was 7 pounds an 1 ounce and 20 inches when I was born. I came home with mama, baba and grammy 36 hours later. Grammy stayed with us a few days and baba stayed home with mommy and I for 2 weeks.

I meet meme and dedda (baba's mama and baba) on July 1st when they flew in from Egypt. By the 4th of July I had meet all my aunts, uncles, and cousins with the exception of Uncle Hassan and Auntie Heba. But mama and baba are taking me to Egypt in March to meet them and the rest of my family and friends.
